Chairman’s Report

April brought our AGM and, on behalf of the committee, I would like to thank all those residents who out turned for the meeting. The existing committee was re-elected for the coming year and we will continue to support residents in all Park matters. Yvonne Leddy from Mid Sussex gave an interesting talk on Site Licences and other related matters. Under any other business, the problem of hotel delivery vehicles was raised as well as road markings. I promised to raise this with the Director at our next meeting and this took place in May. He listened to our concerns and agreed that the 10mph and other markings should be renewed. Some road work is planned and once this is completed, road markings will be laid with traffic surface paint. He was also happy to raise the matter of the delivery vehicles with the hotel, once we were able to provide some evidence. In the interim the residents of Siskin Avenue and Kestrel Walk had taken photographs and signed a letter to Head Office. We now await a response on this. The Association will, of course, back the residents fully regarding this problem. My best wishes to you all and I hope to see everyone at our coffee morning on the 22nd June in the Country Club.

NMessage from Councillor Bruce Forbes

On behalf of my colleagues Phillip Coote and Neville Walker and myself, I would to thank all the residents of the park for their terrific support at the recent local election. The turnout from the park was amazing.

At both Parish and District council, I will support park matters and ensure that our voice is heard. It is a privilege to be able to give something back to a community that has made us so welcome.

Once again, many thanks for your support.

Geoff Furzer
Some of you may not be aware that our President Geoff Furzer has been very poorly for some time and has recently been in hospital for some weeks. Geoff has been a stalwart of the Resident's Association for many years, firstly as Chairman and more recently as President. He also served as a Parish Councillor and for many years has worked with the advisory service IPHAS. Without him, we would not have had much of the information and background to legislation that we have had. The committee would like to wish Geoff well for the future and give both him and Linda very best wishes on behalf of all residents of the park.

Message from Florrie Grimwood
Florrie has asked us to express her thanks to thank everyone for their kindness, help and support during the time Eric was ill and since his death. She very much appreciated everything which was done for her. She also tells us that the Barbecue on 12th July will be going ahead as planned and she hopes to see everyone there.

NCCZ
The No Cold Calling Zone Signs are now in place (I hope that you have noticed them) and it would be very useful if residents could let us know if they are still being approached by cold callers. Not, of course, by anyone putting leaflets through the door, but by anyone putting pressure on you to buy anything or have work done on your garden or home. Remember, a sticker has been handed out to every home on the park so please display it prominently - you could even put it on your post box if you have one.

New Emergency Telephone number
TThe Chairman raised the issue of the new emergency telephone number which had been posted on the Office Door. This new number, which is 01305-236702, goes to a contracted out company and every Berkeley owned Park is involved. Park Owners are now required to provide a 24 hour emergency cover. However, the first port of call must be the office emergency number as has been used in the past but, if the park staff are not available, then the new number should be used. Residents should be aware that, if they phone this number and then they will be charged for the service. We have, however, been advised by Head Office that a Round Robin Letter will be sent to every home advising them of the system.

No. 84 Bus Route
Just to let everyone know that we are still negotiating with the powers that be to have this bus route changed back to calling through Crawley Down so much so that we have now contacted John O'Brien, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, West Sussex County Council, informing him of all the work we have done in this respect, giving him copies of all the various correspondence we have had and asking him to help and support us in our efforts. Further information as it comes to hand.n
